Welcome to The Barn at Warmth & Wonder...
Set within 48 acres of wildlife rich hillside and woodland with access to a Finnish style woodfired wild sauna, The Barn at Warmth & Wonder is the perfect space to rest and unwind. An ideal base to explore the wonderful borderlands of the Black Mountains and Golden Valley.
The Barn is perfect for a couple and comfortably sleeps 4 (+1 for a family). Choose between the main bedroom, with it’s traditional beams and exposed stone, or climb up to the sleeping platform and through the canvas door for some star gazing from your own indoor ‘tent'.
Cosy down under the warm duvets in the main bedroom or climb up to the sleeping platform and watch the stars
Pop outside and explore the woodland, splash in the streams or simply watch the mountain views change
Rest in front of the log-burning stove in the warm, light, open plan living area
The main bedroom has a luxury super king size bed (also available as a twin) plus a single day-bed, whilst the sleeping platform is accessed via ladder stairs and available with a super king size bed or as a twin.
The light warm open-plan living area has two comfortable sofa’s and wood-burning stove - the perfect place to curl up with a good book or simply watch the flames.
The fully equipped kitchen has all you need to cook up a feast - eat indoors at the table or venture outdoors to the picnic bench and views.
You also have access to use the Wild Sauna during your stay - a beautiful sauna for 2-4 people overlooking the hills and with a cold spring fed plunge and shower to cool off in.
The Barn sits alongside the owners house on the southern slopes of Merlin's Hill (Mynydd Ferddin), overlooking Hatterrall Hill and the Black Mountains, with views towards the holy mountain of Skirrid Fawr to the south, and Black Hill (The Cats Back / Crib y Garth) to the north.
There are 48 acres of hillside and woodland on the doorstep to explore, with stunning views at every turn, the Black Mountains are a delight with their ever changing play of light and shadow. The Barn offers quiet and stillness, with the calling of buzzards and babbling streams providing the soundscape.

A perfect place to unwind; hidden in the countryside surrounded by birds, trees, fields and flowers. A real rest for the soul! The barn has everything one needs and the spring water is delicious! The wood burning stove is also a delight and works really well.

Our second stay at Warmth and Wonder and just as brilliant as the first. Matt made the barn cosy for our arrival late at night with two sleepy children and we woke up to the perfect peace that surrounds this beautiful place. The children played for hours outside on their hammock swing, we trekked up mountains and we visited many castles. Fish and chips in Ewyas Harold, a game of skittles in the local pub and dinner one night in Abergavenny made this such a happy holiday. The barn is equipped with everything you need, it’s spotlessly clean and well maintained and it’s a perfect place if you like peace and quiet. We’re coming back in the summer!

Set in a beautiful rural landscape a million miles away from the stress and strain of most people’s lives is a barn with a huge log burner and everything needed for a cozy break. There’s plenty of space and it’s very comfortable. We were prepared to get wet and muddy knowing we’d end up back at Garn Farm at the end of the day. There are still pubs here, most serving good food and the walks can be simple or challenging. Great afternoon playing some of the many games provided and the kitchen area is a great space to prepare food. Comfy beds, comfy sofas and unlimited wood for the fire. We’ve got to come back in the spring or summer. Loved it!
