The Warmth & Wonder Journal

Occasional news & inspiration from the hills…

At Garn Farm: The Bluebells are out in the woodland, the lambs are in the fields, and the birds are busy settling in for the summer. The farm is now part of the Countryside Stewardship scheme, which is going to improve access to the woodland, create new habitats and enable some better grazing options.

There is still some availability in The Barn for June, July and August.

Interesting listen: BBC Radio 4 Start the Week with Wendell Berry… poetry, doughnut economics, and the future of protest.

Foraging: Local forager, Liz Knight, (Forage Fine Food) has been out collecting the last of the wild garlic here – you can smell her coming! She’s hosting lots of foraging courses this year, including a Midsummer Herbal Day at Garn Farm with herbalist Rowan Mconegal on 21st June. (The Barn is still available that week – you could make a few days of it!)

Woodland craft: Crucorney Environmental Group, just down the road, have lots of woodland courses planned… make a spoon, bowl, stool or hurdle.

Music: The lovely Trev Williams, and friend of Warmth & Wonder, has a new album out.

Well worth your listening time, especially as each purchase supports three mental health charities.

Our only disappointment was that ‘Twist & Pulp’ didn’t make it to the list – a collaboration Trev penned with a group of little people on his last visit here whilst making apple juice!

Silence: Matt was busy over the winter co-writing this group guide to silence. Over 5 sessions it takes folk through contemplative exercises and practices in the exploration of silence: introducing groups to the experience of silence together in natural surroundings.
