Autumnal Warmth & Winters Wonder…

The nights may be drawing in and raincoats are at the ready, but the autumn sunshine is shining bright here – and the Barn is ready for cosy and inspiring stays.

The apples are ready to be picked and we have a few apple pressing sessions planned to keep us with a ready supply of juice – and last winters clearing and chopping means there is plenty of seasoned firewood from the woodland to keep everyone toasty.

Not only does The Barn have a huge wood burning stove there are also warm blankets dotted around so when you find the perfect spot to curl up in you can stay for a while – take them outside to soak up the last of the sunshine and keep your toes warm round the fire-bwl. Or if curling up in front of a good film is your thing you’ll be pleased to know we’ve added a TV and DVD player with DVD library recently.

Foraging in the kitchen
Not content with just providing emergency cookies – another recent addition to the Barn is our “foraged mini bar” of dried, pickled and preserved foods from our friends up the hill at Forage Fine Foods. These beautiful products add a bit of spice and zing, or warmth and mellowness to whatever you are cooking – or drinking. You might even be lucky enough to coincide your stay with a foraging course or wild feast. Check out www.foragefinefoods.com for further details.

Our local farm shop now delivers tasty welcome holiday boxes in three sizes. They include organic vegetables, fruit, bread, butter, raw milk, cake and all you need to cook up a lovely breakfast on your first morning. These are delivered on a Friday ready for a weekend stay (order at www.llanvifarm.co.uk for delivery to Garn Farm).

If a veg box seems like too much hard work though we are now providing our own wholesome homemade frozen meals. Just let us know if you would like to order a spaghetti bolognese, a shepherds pie or a hearty chickpea and spinach stew to be waiting for you on your arrival.

Planning your escape…
There are still some dates in October and November available for an autumnal escape. And what could be better than rolling country hills for silent nights and walking frosty trails for a December escape, with simmering mulled wine (or our favourite seasonal apple juice/cider mix) awaiting your return… Actually we know something even better… come and enjoy a secluded Christmas within 48 acres of wildlife-rich hillside and woodland – take the kids for rambles on woodland footpaths and when the sun sets, switch off beside the wood-burner with a good book – the long Christmas weekend, and following week, are still available (at the moment).
